Oh no! You're about to cook up an amazing recipe for dinner and you used up all of your plant-based milk this morning.

Don't worry, I totally have a simple and easy way to make vegan milk without straining. Plus I bet you already have the ingredients to make it.

We all know it can be tough to find high-quality plant-based milk out there. There are only two brands of plant-based milk I purchase from the store. Let’s be honest the real VIP out there is Elmhurst’s 3 Ingredient Oat Milk or their 2 Ingredient Cashew Milk. But this brand isn't exactly inexpensive and buying a few cartons of milk weekly can add up quickly and take up a lot of my grocery budget.

So in times like these where we are all trying to save a little money, or save ourselves an emergency trip of running to the store, I wanted to share my simple way to make vegan milk at home. No straining, no oils, and ready in under 5 minutes.

Making plant-based milk at home is a quick and easy way to save money and have control over the ingredients that go into your milk. Plus, you can experiment with different types of nut butter and sweetener to find your perfect blend, yum!

To make plant-based milk at home, all you need is a blender and a few simple ingredients listed below.

DifficultyBeginner

Yields1 Serving
Prep Time5 minsTotal Time5 mins

Ingredients (select organic when possible)
 3 ½ cups Filtered Water
 1 tbsp (heaping) Nut Butter
 1 Medjool Date (optional)

1

Start by combining 3-4 cups of filtered water, 1-2 dates (if using), and a pinch of salt in a high-speed blender.

2

Next, add a heaping tablespoon of whatever nut butter you have on hand to the blender. I like to use cashew butter because it froths really well in my morning drinks, but you can use peanut butter or any other nut butter that you like.

3

Blend everything together until the date is fully incorporated.
Once everything is well-blended, transfer the milk to a container and store it in the refrigerator for up to five days.

That's it! You now have homemade plant-based milk that is ready to use in minutes in your favorite recipes or as a refreshing drink on its own.

So next time you find yourself out of milk and don’t want to run to the store or just want to try something new, give this recipe a try and see how easy it is to make plant-based milk at home. You might be surprised at how delicious and convenient it can be to have this little trick in your back pocket!
